Leeds Equity, as a result of its experience and expertise in the Knowledge Industries generally and in the postsecondary sector specifically, developed the investment thesis that led to the acquisition of Education Management. Leeds Equity conceived, sourced on a proprietary basis, structured, and led the $3.4 billion take-private acquisition of Education Management in 2006. This transaction was the largest buyout of an education company and the first going-private transaction in the postsecondary sector.
